ABC-Animal Quilt (Englisch Version)

In diesem Beitrag dreht sich alles um den ABC-Tier Quilt in der englischen Version. In meinem vorherigen Beitrag über die Tier Quilt Blöcke habe ich euch bereits alle neuen Tierblöcke vorgestellt und auch noch einmal alle alten Tierblöcke aufgelistet. Hier zeige ich euch, welche zauberhaften ABC-Animal Quilts ihr in Kombination mit den Großbuchstabenblöcken nähen könnt. Für die deutsche Version des ABC-Tierquilts klickt bitte hier.

Vielleicht kennst du bereits meinen ABC-Fahrzeug Quilt, den ich vor einiger Zeit genäht habe. Das Prinzip ist dasselbe. Für jeden Buchstaben des Alphabets gibt es ein Tier (beim ABC-Vehicle Quilt ein Fahrzeug), das mit dem jeweiligen Buchstaben beginnt. Ich habe mir für meinen Quilt zu jedem Buchstaben ein passendes Tier ausgewählt. Damit du aber deine ganz eigene Auswahl treffen kannst, habe ich unten in diesem Blogbeitrag alle Tiere alphabetisch sortiert und aufgelistet, damit du die Tiere selbst den entsprechenden Buchstaben zuordnen kannst.

This post revolves around the ABC-Animal Quilt in its English version. In my previous post about the Animal Quilt Blocks, I’ve already introduced all the new animal blocks and listed all the old ones once again. Here, I showcase the charming ABC-Animal Quilts you can create by combining them with uppercase letter blocks. For the German version of the ABC-Animal Quilt, please click here.

You might already be familiar with my ABC-Vehicle Quilt, which I made some time ago. The principle is the same. For each letter of the alphabet, there’s an animal (in the ABC-Vehicle Quilt, a vehicle) that begins with that letter. I’ve selected a suitable animal for each letter of my quilt. However, to allow you to make your own selection, I’ve alphabetically sorted and listed all the animals towards the end of this blog post, enabling you to match the animals with their corresponding letters.

Für den ABC-Tier Quilt habe ich nicht nur recherchiert, welche Tiere mit dem fehlenden Buchstaben beginnen, sondern auch geprüft, ob sie sich für das Design eignen – nicht alle Tiere passen problemlos in einen 9-Zoll-Block. Daher gibt es manchmal nur ein Tier oder gleich mehrere Optionen einen Buchstaben. Wie die bereits vorhandenen Tier-Quiltblöcke sind auch diese in zwei Größen erhältlich: 9 und 18 Zoll.

In designing the ABC-Animal Quilt, I not only researched which animals start with the missing letter but also assessed their suitability for the design – not all animals fit easily into a 9-inch block. Therefore, sometimes there’s only one animal or multiple options for a letter. Like the existing animal quilt blocks, these blocks are also available in two sizes: 9 and 18 inches.

ABC-Animal Quilt Pattern

Was das ABC-Animal Quilt Pattern alles beinhaltet:

• Auswahlbogen für Deine individuelle Auswahl der 26 Vehicle Quilt Blöcke. Die 26 Anleitungen bekommst du nach dem Zusenden des Auswahlbogens an meine Mailadresse innerhalb von 1-2 Werktagen zugeschickt.
• Anleitung zum Zusammenstellen des ABC-Animal Quilts – Größe 67 x 85 Zoll (9 Zoll Blöcke).

Wissenswertes zum ABC-Animal Quilt Pattern:

• Wenn du den ABC-Animal Quilt mit 9 Zoll Blöcken nähst und für die beiden zusammenpassenden Buchstaben- und Tierblöcke den gleichen Hintergrundstoff verwendest, reicht dir 1 Fat Quarter für beide Blöcke zusammen.
• Ich kann keine genauen Stoffangaben für den gesamten ABC-Animal Quilt machen, da die Tierblöcke individuell zusammengestellt werden.

What the ABC-Animal Quilt Pattern includes:

• 26 capital letter blocks of the alphabet in sizes 9 and 18 inches.
• 5 punctuation marks: period, comma, dash, exclamation mark, and question mark in sizes 9 and 18 inches, plus a variant for the question mark.
• Overview of all 87 animal blocks and cutting templates to design your quilt. See the following images.
• Selection sheet for your individual choice of the 26 animal quilt blocks. The 26 patterns will be sent to you within 1-2 business days after sending the selection sheet to my email address.
• Instructions for assembling the ABC-Animal Quilt – Size: 67 x 85 inches (9-inch blocks).

Details about the ABC-Animal Quilt Pattern:

• If you’re sewing the ABC-Animal Quilt with 9-inch blocks and using the same background fabric for the two matching letter and animal blocks, 1 fat quarter is enough for both blocks together.
• I cannot provide exact fabric requirements for the entire ABC-Animal Quilt since the animal blocks are individually selected.

Mein ABC-Animal Quilt / My ABC-Animal Quilt

Mein ABC-Animal Quilt ist für Kinder gedacht und darf ruhig bunt und fröhlich sein. Für mich ist es auch eine großartige Möglichkeit, meinen Stoffvorrat zu nutzen und die Stoffe herauszusuchen, die ich besonders mag. Das Gute an diesem Quilt ist, dass man für die einzelnen Blöcke nicht viel vom gleichen Stoff benötigt. So erweist sich der ABC-Animal Quilt als idealer Stoffverwerter. Wenn du jedem Buchstaben bzw. Tier deines Quilts einen eigenen Stoff als Hintergrund geben möchtest, benötigst du 26 verschiedene Stoffe sowie weitere 3 Stoffe für die 3 Sonderzeichen. Insgesamt also 29 verschiedene Stoffe. Hier siehst du meine Auswahl.

My ABC-Animal Quilt is designed for children and can be colorful and cheerful. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for me to utilize my fabric stash and pick out the fabrics I particularly love. The great thing about this quilt is that you don’t need a lot of the same fabric for each block. Thus, the ABC-Animal Quilt proves to be an ideal fabric stash buster. If you want to give each letter or animal in your quilt its own background fabric, you’ll need 26 different fabrics plus an additional 3 fabrics for the 3 special characters. So, a total of 29 different fabrics. Here’s my selection.

ABC-Animal Quilt Assembly

Nun geht es weiter mit dem Zusammenstellen des Quilts. Wie gewohnt habe ich meine Buchstaben- und Tierblöcke über Nacht unter dicken Buchseiten gepresst.

Now it’s time to continue assembling the quilt. As usual, I’ve pressed my letter and animal blocks overnight under thick book pages.

This time, unfortunately, I didn’t take photos of the individual steps of the quilt assembly. But feel free to check out the ABC-Animal Quilt in the German version, where I showcase the steps in a bit more detail.

Das Zusammennähen des Quilttops ist jedoch nach dem Nähen der einzelnen Blöcke ohnehin ein Kinderspiel!

However, stitching the quilt top together is a breeze once you’ve sewn the individual blocks!

ABC-Animal Quilt: Quilting

Das Quilttop ist fertig genäht und bereit zum Quilten. Ich habe mich entschieden, den Quilt selbst zu quilten und mich für Wellenlinien im Abstand von 1,5 Zoll entschieden. Das verleiht dem ABC-Animal Quilt einen verspielten Look, und der Aufwand für das Quilten bleibt dank dieses einfachen Quiltmusters überschaubar. Wie du weißt, ist das Quilten nicht unbedingt mein Lieblingsschritt.

The quilt top is sewn and ready for quilting. I’ve chosen to quilt the quilt myself and opted for wavy lines spaced 1.5 inches apart. This gives the ABC-Animal Quilt a playful look, and the effort for quilting remains manageable thanks to this simple quilting pattern. As you know, quilting isn’t necessarily my favorite step.

ABC-Animal Quilt: Binding

Ein Quilt erwacht erst wirklich zum Leben, wenn das Binding angebracht ist. Also, nichts wie ran an die Nadel! Ich habe mich für einen bunt gestreiften Stoff entschieden, der perfekt zu dem bereits lebhaften ABC-Animal Quilt passt. Diesmal habe ich das Binding sogar von Hand angenäht.

A quilt truly comes to life once the binding is applied. So, let’s get stitching! I’ve opted for a brightly striped fabric that complements the already lively ABC-Animal Quilt perfectly. This time, I even hand-stitched the binding.

Und hier ist er, mein ABC-Animal Quilt in voller Pracht. Er ist wirklich ein fröhlicher und bunter Kinderquilt geworden, oder?

And there it is, my ABC-Animal Quilt in all its glory. It has truly become a cheerful and colorful children’s quilt, hasn’t it?
