Tier Quilt / Animal Quilt

Heute kann ich Dir endlich die Tier Quilt Anleitung (Animal Quilt) vorstellen, an der ich schon so lange arbeite und die seit heute in meinem Shop erhältlich ist. Es ist so schön, wenn eine Idee, die so lange im Kopf rumspukt, endlich real wird. Also ein lang erwarteter Tag für mich, vor dem ich auch etwas gezittert habe, weil es immer aufregend ist eine neue Anleitung zu veröffentlichen.

Diejenigen, die meine Fahrzeug Quilt Block Anleitungen kennen, werden vielleicht eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit im Design erkennen. Das ist gewollt, da ich mich wieder bewußt für die 9 und 18 inch Blöcke entscheiden habe, um diese süßen Tiere zu entwerfen. Auch das Reduzierte im Design sollte an meine Vehicle Quilt Blöcke erinnern.

Today I can finally present you the animal quilt pattern I’ve been working on for so long and which is available in my store since today. It’s so nice when an idea that’s been floating around in my head for so long finally becomes real. So a long awaited day for me, which I was also a bit trembling before because it’s always exciting to release a new tutorial.

Those who are familiar with my vehicle quilt block patterns may recognize some similarity in design. This is intentional, as I again made a conscious decision to use the 9 and 18 inch blocks to design these cute animals. The pared down design was also meant to be reminiscent of my Vehicle Quilt Blocks.

Die Tier Quilt Blöcke / The Animal Quilt blocks

Jetzt möchte ich aber endlich die Animal Quilt Blöcke einzeln vorstellen. Die Bilder sind jeweils mit meinem Shop verlinkt, wenn Ihr also das ein oder andere Tier genauer erforschen wollt, klickt einfach auf das Bild oder den Namen darunter.

But now I would like to finally present the Animal Quilt Blocks individually. The pictures are each linked to my pattern shop, so if you want to explore one or the other animal in more detail, just click on the picture or the name below.

Es sind 25 Blöcke + 2, weil ich den Pfau und die Maus in jeweils 2 Varianten designt habe. Beide Blöcke haben eine einfache und eine etwas schwierigere Version bekommen. Du kannst also gerne aussuchen, welche Variante Dir besser gefällt.
Ist Dir aufgefallen, daß alle Tiere zum Thema Bauernhof gehören? Das liegt daran, daß ich anfangs einfach darauf los entworfen habe und irgendwann festestellen mußte, daß es einfach zu viele Tiere gibt, die ich entwerfen könnte. Also habe ich nochmal einen Gang zurückgeschaltet und mich auf ein bestimmtes Thema fokussiert. Und das waren die Bauernhof Tiere. Es könnte also eventuell in unbestimmter Zeit noch das ein oder andere Tier auftauchen….!

There are 25 blocks + 2, because I designed the peacock and the mouse in 2 variants each. Both blocks got an easy and a slightly more difficult version. So feel free to choose which variant you like better.
Did you notice that all animals belong to the farm theme? That’s because I started out just designing away and realized at some point that there were just too many animals to design. So I took it down a notch and focused on one particular theme. And that was the farm animals. So maybe in an indefinite time one or the other animal could appear….!

Tier Quilt Anleitungs-Bundle / Animal Quilt Pattern Bundle

Die Tier Quilt Block Anleitung kann natürlich auch wieder als Bundle gekauft werden, wenn Du die Blöcke nicht einzeln kaufen möchtest. Damit hast Du den Vorteil gegenüber dem Einzelkauf der Blöcke, daß Du die Blöcke erstens natürlich günstiger bekommst, aber zusätzlich bekommst Du alle 27 Blöcke und nicht nur 25 Blöcke, da noch die Variante der Maus und des Pfaus gleich mit dabei sind.

The animal quilt block pattern can of course be purchased again as a bundle if you don’t want to buy the blocks individually. So you have the advantage over the individual purchase of the blocks, that you get the blocks first of course cheaper, but in addition you get all 27 blocks and not only 25 blocks, because the variant of the mouse and the peacock are also included.

Was das Tier Quilt Anleitungs-Bundle alles beinhaltet:

• 25 + 2 Tier Blöcke in den Größen 9 und 18 inch (unvernähte Blockgröße 9 1/2 and 18 1/2).
• Zuschnitt und Stoffbedarf pro Block (Achtung: das Bundle enthält keine Stoffangabe für den kompletten Quilt mit allen Blöcken, da diese individuell zusammengestellt werden können).
• Schritt für Schritt Anleitung.
• Zuschnitt und Stoffbedarf (nur Sashing, Border, Backing) und Diagramm für 2 Quilt-Zusammenstellungen pro Blockgröße.

What the Animal Quilt pattern bundle all includes:

• 25 + 2 animal blocks in sizes 9 and 18 inches (unfinsihed block size 9 1/2 and 18 1/2).
• Cutting and fabric requirements per block (note: the bundle does not include fabric for the complete quilt with all blocks, as they can be assembled individually).
• Step by step instructions.
• Cutting and fabric requirements (sashing, border, backing only) and diagram for 2 quilt assemblies per block size.

Und dann kann es auch schon losgehen mit Deinem Tier Quilt Design. Das PDF des Bundles enthält eine Seite mit allen Tierblöcken, die Du auschneiden kannst. Zudem findest Du 4 Quilt Assemblies, auf die Du jetzt nach Lust und Laune die ausgeschnittenen Tierblöcke setzen und somit Deinen Tier Quilt individuell gestalten kannst.

And then you can get started with your animal quilt design. The PDF of the bundle contains a page with all the animal blocks that you can cut out. In addition, you will find 4 quilt assemblies, on which you can now place the cut out animal blocks as you wish and thus individually design your animal quilt.

Für mein Quilt Top habe ich meine fertig genähten 25 Blöcke (9 inch Blockgröße) in ein Quilt Assembly von 5 x 5 Blöcken gelegt, dabei habe ich die Tierblöcke so lange hin und hergeschoben, bis es mir am besten gefallen hat. Und hier siehst Du das Ergebnis:

For my quilt top, I placed my finished sewn 25 blocks (9 inch block size) into a quilt assembly of 5 x 5 blocks, moving the animal blocks back and forth until I liked it best. And here you can see the result:

Und hier noch eine Variante, bei der ich den Pfau und die Maus ausgetauscht habe.

And here’s another variation where I replaced the peacock and the mouse.

Meine Quilt Werkzeuge und Hilfsmittel / My Quilting Tools and Supplies

Falls du bereits ein erfahrener Patchworker bist, kannst du diesen Absatz gerne überspringen. Doch für diejenigen, die gerade erst mit dem Patchworken beginnen, kann es eine Herausforderung sein zu wissen, welche Hilfsmittel man eigentlich benötigt. If you’re already an experienced patchworker, feel free to skip this paragraph. Das Sashing

Auch wenn ich meinem reduzierten Quiltdesign wieder treu geblieben bin und Weiß als Hintergrundfarbe und Sashingfarbe gewählt habe, wollte ich anders als beim Vehicle Quilt das Sashing ein klein bißchen abändern. Anstelle der Quadrate habe ich diesmal Herzchen zwischen die Sashingstreifen genäht, was dem Quilt mit den süßen Tieren was Zauberhaftes gibt. Hier sind Dir keine Grenzen gesetzt, was Du Dir für das Sashing einfallen läßt, aber in den Block Anleitung findest Du die genaue Schritt für Schritt Anleitung für diese Herzen.

Damit ich es aber noch genauer zeigen kann, habe ich die einzelnen Schritte hier auch mal photographiert:

Even though I stayed true to my reduced quilt design again and chose white as background and sashing color, I wanted to change the sashing a little bit, unlike the Vehicle Quilt. Instead of the squares, this time I sewed hearts between the sashing strips, which gives the quilt with the cute animals something magical. There are no limits to what you can come up with for the sashing here, but in the block patterns you will find the exact step by step instructions for these hearts.

So that I can show it however still more exactly, I photographed the individual steps:

Mein fertiger Tier Quilt / My finished Animal Quilt

Das Sashing ist angenäht und mein Quilt Top ist fertig. Ich bin ganz glücklich damit und jetzt kann ich auch gleich auf die Suche nach dem richtigen Backing gehen. Das ist bei der Vielzahl der Farben auf der Vorderseite des Quilts gar nicht so einfach.

The sashing is sewn on and my quilt top is finished. I’m quite happy with it and now I can also go right to the search for the right backing. That’s not so easy with the multitude of colors on the front of the quilt.

Entschieden habe ich mich für ein Blumenmuster, daß genauso lustig und bunt ist wie die Vorderseite des Quilts. Da es hierbei ganz klar um einen Kinderquilt handelt, durfte es ruhig noch ein bißchen bunter werden. Der Hintergrund des Blumenmusters ist ein zarter puder-rosa Ton, was man auf dem Bild nicht so gut erkennt.

I decided on a flower pattern that is just as fun and colorful as the front of the quilt. Since this is clearly a children’s quilt, it could be quiet a bit more colorful. The background of the flower pattern is a delicate powder-pink tone, which is not so well visible in the picture.

Das Quilting / The Quilting

Gequiltet hat mir die liebe Iva von @schnigschnagquiltsandmore meinen Tier Quilt. Sie ist eine wahre Meisterin auf dem Gebiet des Quiltens und ich bin immer wieder sprachlos, was sie da so zaubert. Schaut mal auf Ihrem Instagram Account vorbei, den ich verlinkt habe.
Entschieden habe ich mich für ein organisches Panthographmuster, das “Butterfly Swirl“ heißt. Mit den Blumen und den kleinen Schmetterlingen paßt das doch ganz wunderbar zum Tier Quilt.

Quilted me the dear Iva of @schnigschnagquiltsandmore my Animal Quilt. She is a true master in the field of quilting and I am always speechless, what she conjures up. Check out her Instagram account, which I’ve linked to.
I decided to go with an organic panthograph pattern called „Butterfly Swirl“. With the flowers and the small butterflies fits but quite wonderful to the Animal Quilt.

Tier Quilt Kino / Animal Quilt cinema

Hier siehst Du im Schnelldurchlauf nochmal alle Tier Quilt Blöcke. Für jeden der Tier Quilt Blöcke habe ich ein Stop Motion Video geschnitten, in dem Du die einzelnen Schritte im Schnelldurchlauf sehen kannst. Vielleicht hilt das ja beim Nähen der Blöcke, wenn Dir mal ein Schritt nicht ganz klar ist.

Here you can see all the Animal Quilt blocks again in fast forward. For each of the Animal Quilt blocks I have cut a stop motion video in which you can see the individual steps in fast forward. Maybe this will help you when sewing the blocks, if a step is not quite clear to you.
